Biatain Alginate can be used on all moderately to highly exuding wounds, including leg ulcers, pressure ulcers, diabetic foot ulcers, skin sampling sites and traumatic wounds. Biatain Alginate should not be used on dry wounds or to control heavy bleeding.

Biatain Alginate is a highly absorbent alginate dressing for moderately to highly exuding wounds of any size, shape and depth. Biatain Alginate has Superior Absorption compared to other alginate and hydro-fiber dressings.

Ideal for filling cavity lesions

The design and structural integrity of the dressing allow it to be cut and adapted to wounds of any size, shape or depth. The dressing conforms to the wound bed, fulfilling an important aspect of the healing process.

Integrity of dressing upon removal

The unique dressing integrity allows for one-piece removal.

Minimize the risk of leaks and maceration

Superior Absorption of Biatain Alginate blocks exudate within the dressing, preventing leaks that can damage surrounding skin.

Documented hemostatic effect

Unlike hydro-fiber dressings, alginate dressings have a haemostatic effect, i.e. the ability to stop blood flow in cases of minor bleeding by releasing calcium ions from the dressing.

Mode of action

Upon contact with wound exudate, Biatain Alginate transforms into a soft, cohesive gel that creates the optimal moist environment for healing.

Composition of the product

Biatain Alginate is an alginate dressing composed of 85% calcium alginate and 15% carboxymethylcellulose (CMC).
