Biatain® Alginate Ag is a highly absorbent, silver alginate dressing for moderately to highly exuding infected wounds of various sizes, shapes and depths.

Recommended for filling infected cavity lesions

The design and structural integrity of the dressing allow it to be cut and adapted to wounds of various sizes, shapes and depths.

Patented dressing containing a silver complex with a broad spectrum antimicrobial profile

Biatain® Alginate Ag provides a continuous antimicrobial effect over the entire use time (up to 7 days) (2).

High dressing integrity

The high integrity of the dressing allows it to be removed in one piece, minimizing pain and trauma (1).

Minimize the risk of leaks and maceration

The absorption of Biatain® Alginate Ag (1) and the formation of the gel, which blocks the exudate inside it, prevent losses that can cause maceration of the periwound skin.

Documented hemostatic effect

Unlike hydro-fiber dressings, Biatain® Alginate Ag has a documented hemostatic effect, i.e. the ability to stop blood flow in cases of minor bleeding (4,5).

Mode of action

Upon contact with wound exudate, Biatain® Alginate Ag transforms into a soft, cohesive gel that conforms to the wound bed for infection control. Upon contact with the wound exudate, the silver complex releases ions.

Composition of the product

Biatain® Alginate Ag is a dressing composed of alginate, carboxymethylcellulose (CMC) and an ionic silver complex.

Usage

Biatain® Alginate Ag can be used on all moderately to highly exuding, partial thickness and full thickness wounds. Biatain® Alginate Ag can be used on infected wounds or wounds at risk of infection. Biatain® Alginate Ag can be used under a compression bandage. Biatain® Alginate Ag should not be used on dry or poorly exuding wounds, or to manage heavy bleeding wounds. Biatain®Alginate Ag is indicated for leg ulcers, pressure ulcers, diabetic foot ulcers, skin sampling sites, traumatic injuries and second degree burns.
