Jean-Paul Guerlain created Samsara for the woman of his life. The only indications he had were sandalwood and jasmine, which the "Lady of Samsara" particularly loved. Jean-Paul Guerlain made numerous trips to India to procure the purest sandalwood and a jasmine which until then had only been used for religious offerings.
Samsara is a sensual version of seduction, for a woman who has found harmony and balance thanks to the raw materials that make up the fragrance.

To create the form of Samsara, Robert Granai found inspiration at the Musée Guimet in Paris. Through the fullness of its shape, the fiery red bottle, a sacred color, evokes the statue of a Khmer dancer. The cap recalls the eye of the Buddha, a symbol of meditation that guides towards the supreme awakening.
