Mallow is a perennial herbaceous plant, bushy, with erect stems, sometimes creeping, it can reach and exceed one meter in height, the root is a vertical taproot. The plant is heliotropic due to the fact that it follows the sun. The green leaves are arranged in a fan shape, with 5 or 7 lobes.

Curiosity

The name Malva comes from the Latin mollire alvum and has the meaning to make soft, that is, capable of softening. From the Greek term Malachè (snail), referring to the emollient properties of viscous juices such as snail drool.

Active principles:

Mucilage up to 8%, anthocyanins (Malvina, malvidin, gossypicianin, cannabinin,), flavonoids, amino acids, sugars, vitamins A, B1, C, E.

Internal use (hydroalcoholic solution)

It has emollient, mucoprotective, anti-inflammatory, refreshing, bechiche, laxative properties

Indications : Irritation of the upper respiratory tract, cough, gastritis and enteritis, constipation, cystitis.

Dosage : 60 drops in a little water three times a day between meals.

Herbal tea

The best results are obtained from maceration at 5% in warm water for at least 5 hours. Alternatively, make a decoction, always at 5%, boiling for 10 minutes.

Notes : Herbal tea is the best form of consumption. The hydroalcoholic solution does not contain mucilage but has laxative properties.

Synergistic drugs: ALTEA, CALENDULA CHAMOMILE, HELICHRIS, FARFARA, ROVO, VERBASCO

The flowers bloom in spring and are pink-violet, the corolla is made up of 5 petals with darker streaks and are found at the axil of the leaves, in pairs or in bunches.
