Focus

Ganoderma lucidum, also called Reishi belongs to the Ganodermataceae family. The very hard pulp of the fruiting bodies makes them inappropriate for use in the kitchen. In nature it usually grows from spring to autumn. The mycelium, which makes up the main body of the fungus, creates fruiting bodies and has an interesting kidney-shaped structure. It is composed of brown and white skeletal generative hyphae. These two types of fungal fibers form a leathery, whitish to light brown mycelial mesh. The mycelium has a bitter taste. In traditional Chinese medicine, Ganoderma lucidum has been used for over 2000 years. It contains a group of triterpenes called ganoderic acids, with a molecular structure similar to steroid hormones.

In "Evolved Functional Medicine" (branch of non-conventional medicines) it is considered that the whole mushroom of Ganoderma lucidum (the extract cannot be considered in the same way since it is limited in active ingredients) can offer its best contribution in supporting a very specific metabolic phase: the "phase 1" also called hypertrophic phase, that is the phase where more reactions of the inflammatory and histamine type can occur.
