Water Of The Abano Thermal Baths

Hypertonic Solution

Indications: daily hygiene of the nose in case of colds and rhinitis in children and adults.

The nasal irrigation carried out by means of the practical anatomical dispenser helps to eliminate dust, dirt, mucus, bacteria, viruses and allergens from the nose.

It is also useful for the therapy of upper respiratory tract diseases and to alleviate related ailments.

Instructions for Use:
1) Remove the protective cap from the can.
2) Place the anatomical regulator at the base of the nostril.
3) Apply light pressure to the base of the regulator while inhaling with the nose
4) Repeat the operation in the other nostril
5) After each use, wash the dispenser with water

Tips for a correct nasal wash:

  • During washing the head must be rotated so that the nostril through which the solution is introduced is slightly higher than the other. the solution will come out from the other nostril further down and only a small part will be perceived in the oral cavity.
  • Do not direct the jet towards the nasal septum, but towards the top and the outside of the nose. It should be bent slightly forward over a sink which will collect all secretions.
  • During the nasal wash it is necessary to breathe through the mouth
  • After washing, it is advisable to blow your nose to eliminate secretions and residual solution
  • Repeat the application several times a day as needed

When is it useful to perform nasal washes?

  • In the case of allergic rhinitis, to remove allergens and substances produced by the allergic patient that cause inflammation typical of the allergy (histamine and leukotrienes). This result is achieved above all by frequent nasal washings. The effect of the nasal wash lasts a few hours and enhances the action of antihistamines and cortisone sprays.
  • In acute or chronic rhinosinusitis, a disease characterized by discharge of mucus or pus in the throat, nasal obstruction and discharge, pain near the eyes and nose, cough and sometimes fever. In this situation, nasal washing decongests the mucosa and increases the effectiveness of antibiotics.
  • In bacterial rhinitis and common cold (viral).
  • In people who continue to clear their throat due to the presence of secretions in the back pharynx
  • In patients who snore as a result of nasal obstruction.
  • In subjects exposed to smoke or other irritants and who feel dry nose (atrophic and drying rhinitis).
  • In subjects with closed ears while they are in the high mountains, on an airplane or after scuba diving.
  • In nasal polyposis.
  • After nose surgery (rhinoplasty, septoplasty, resection of nasal turbinates and ethmoidectomy) for this indication, consult your doctor.
