Medical device indicated for the symptomatic treatment of constipation.

It promotes peristalsis, helping to have an adequate bowel evacuation, thus counteracting constipation and preventing the formation of fecal impacts. It also facilitates the elimination of intestinal gas by reducing the sensation of bloating and abdominal distension. Agpeg esse is presented as a powder for oral solution.
Macrogol is a water-soluble inert polymer with a high molecular weight that has the ability to bind to the water used for intake by retaining it in the stool. It determines a rehydration and softening of the fecal mass and facilitates its evacuation. It accelerates intestinal transit by promoting peristalsis. It is not absorbed or metabolized in the gastrointestinal tract and does not lead to water and electrolyte imbalances when taken with the indicated dose of liquid. Simethicone is a substance that has the ability to decrease the surface tension of gas bubbles present in the gastrointestinal tract, facilitating their expulsion.

How to use

Use the measuring cup contained in the package to measure out the powder: fill it level and not pressed, then remove the excess amount of product with the blade of a knife.
Children aged 6 months to 12 years (adults / children <43 kg)
- from 6-10 kg: 1 level measuring spoon per day;
- from 10-15 kg: 1-2 level scoops per day;
- from 16-20 kg: 2-3 level scoops per day;
- from 21-43 kg: 3-4 level scoops per day.
The dose should be increased or decreased, depending on the individual response to treatment, to allow for smooth evacuation of soft stools. The maximum dose needed does not normally exceed 4 scoops per day. Dissolve the powder in water or other liquid (50 ml per measuring cup) and take immediately. It is advisable to administer the product in the morning if you have to take 1 scoop per day. For larger doses divide the intake between morning and evening.
Adults and children over 12 years of age (> 43 kg)
- 2 to 10 level scoops per day.

The maximum dose needed does not normally exceed 10 scoops per day. Dissolve the powder in water or other liquid (50 ml per measuring cup) and take immediately. It is advisable to administer the product in the morning if the minimum dose is to be taken (2 scoops per day). For larger doses divide the intake between morning and evening.

Warnings

Do not take Agpeg esse in case of known hypersensitivity to macrogol or the other components, perforation, intestinal obstruction or stenosis, paralytic ileus, severe inflammatory diseases of the intestinal tract such as Crohn's disease, ulcerative colitis and toxic megacolon. The use of laxatives is contraindicated in case of acute abdominal pain or of unknown origin, nausea and vomiting, rectal bleeding of unknown origin and in case of severe dehydration.
Certain gastrointestinal disorders (stomach pain, flatulence, abdominal bloating, nausea and fecal incontinence) may occur. Diarrhea is a secondary effect of taking excessive doses of Agpeg esse and can be avoided by decreasing the intake dose. Cases of hypersensitivity reactions (skin rash) have been reported rarely following the use of products containing macrogol. In case, stop the treatment and consult your doctor.
It is recommended to use the product in pediatric age after consulting your doctor. Administration to children should be carried out under the direct supervision of an adult. Consult your doctor before use in pregnancy and lactation. Do not use after the expiry date indicated on the package. Do not use if package is opened or damaged. Do not exceed the maximum daily dose. Keep the product or the solution obtained out of the reach of children. If you do not notice any improvement after 7 days of treatment, you should consult your doctor. The product can reduce the time of stay in the intestine and therefore the absorption of medicinal products for oral use. It is therefore advisable to consult your doctor in case of simultaneous intake of medicinal products for oral use, which must in any case be administered at a distance of at least 2 hours. In case of unwanted reactions, even if different from those listed, stop the treatment and consult your doctor.
