N-acetylcysteine: 600 mg.

The use of high daily doses of N-acetylcysteine (600 mg. X 2) is indicated for the long-term treatment, with a suspension in the summer months, of mild to moderate COPD (level 1-2 of the GOLD), in addition to background therapy of the disease with long-acting bronchodilators, whether or not associated with corticosteroids. At these dosages, the mucolytic activity of N-acetylcysteine is associated with a marked antioxidative activity, with additional benefits, from the clinical point of view, on the control of symptoms, on exacerbations, on hospitalizations and on the duration of hospitalizations, and from the point of view respiratory function on the patency of the small airways, on the increase in the inspiratory capacity of the subject, on the reduction of air trapping in the lungs, all parameters that determine a higher tolerance to physical effort by the patient. The regulation of the activation of leukocytes and neutrophils also improves inflammatory parameters and modulates the release of proteolytic enzymes (elastase) from neutrophils with protection from structural damage of the lung (emphysema). Furthermore, N-acetylcysteine improves the immune response to viral infections which in the winter cause flare-ups of the disease. The antioxidant activity is carried out with the endocellular restoration of the reduced glutathione levels of which Nacetylcysteine is a precursor, it is able to block excess free radicals and to rebalance the redox balance in the lung tissue with all the advantages described above. .

Vitamin C: 200 mg.

Vitamin C, among its many activities, exerts an antioxidant, antiviral (stimulates the production of interferons) and immunostimulating (stimulates the production of IgG, IgM antibody).
