Description
Highly absorbent sterile hydrocellular dressing, in tri-layered polyurethane with an adhesive backing layer in silicone gel that is delicate even for the most fragile skin. In the presence of exudate, the dressing helps maintain a moist environment on the wound, promoting healing. Allevyn Gentle absorbs and retains fluids even under compression and is able to promote pressure relief. The dressing is easy to apply and remove and thanks to its flexibility and conformability to even complex anatomical areas (e.g. knee) it is soft and comfortable for the patient.

Property
The dressing absorbs exudate in 2 stages:
1. Vertical: to avoid maceration of the periwound skin.
2. Horizontal: to exploit all the absorbent capacity of the tampon.
The dressing provides an effective barrier to the entry of bacteria by protecting the injury from invasive pathogenic microorganisms and thereby promoting faster healing.
Thanks to the properties of the external film, the dressing is impermeable to fluids.
The dressing can be cut to adapt it to the most difficult areas to dress and also used under a compression bandage.
The delicate silicone gel adhesive makes the dressing suitable for use even in fragile percutes, furthermore the dressing can be lifted and repositioned without losing its adherence properties.
The contact layer and the delicate silicone gel adhesive minimize trauma to the lesion and periwound skin and pain on removal.
The dressing is well tolerated by the skin and minimizes the risk of irritation, and is comfortable for the patient.
The dressing has properties of extensibility in both directions, favoring conformability to even complex anatomical areas and allarticulations.
The dressing can remain in place for up to 7 days, depending on the clinical condition of the wound. The average residence time varies from 3 to 7 days depending on the type of lesions treated. If the dressing is applied to the sacral area, it can be left in place for up to 5 days.
The dressing is radiolucent.
The product does not contain resins and natural rubber (latex) which represent a potential allergenic.
The product does not contain phthalates.

Composition
- Wound contact layer: perforated polyurethane film, entirely coated with silicone gel adhesive, delicate even for the most fragile skin, which adheres softly to the periwound skin but not to the wound, allowing traumatic removal of the dressing without damaging the granulation tissue. Perforation allows the passage of fluids produced from the wound bed towards the central, absorbent layer.
-Intermediate layer: hydrophilic polyurethane foam with hydrocellular cellular structure with polyethylene glycol particles. The structure and dimensions of the cells ensure that all the absorbed exudate (both by capillarity and by cellular absorption) is retained inside the foam, thus limiting the risk of leakage and the consequent danger of maceration of the periwound skin. In addition to exudate, cellular debris and batteries that may be present are also absorbed and retained. The dimensions of the cells, mixed small and medium-sized, also produce a "cushion" effect which favors the discharge of the pressure forces, the same ones that generate the ulcer.
-Outer layer: colored polyurethane film (natural pigments) impermeable to liquids and bacteria, with high gas permeability and dynamic breathability capable of maintaining the moist environment on the wound bed and removing excess exudate by evaporation avoiding maceration of the skin.
