From the beginning, ALLEVYN was designed with inspiration from the human body. ALLEVYN Non-Adhesive was the first ALLEVYN variant. Launched in 1987, it combined patient comfort with the revolutionary three-layer fluid management system that allows wound healing in a moist environment.

Indications

ALLEVYN Non-Adhesive Dressings are indicated for secondary intention management of:

• Superficial, granulating lesions
• Chronic and acute exuding wounds
• Full or partial thickness wounds such as: pressure ulcers, leg ulcers, diabetic foot ulcers
• Tumor lesions
• Surgical wounds
• First and second degree burns
• Withdrawal sites
• Overproliferating skin ulcers
• Oncological lesions
• Epidermolysis bullosa wounds
• ALLEVYN Non-Adhesive can be used on infected wounds. If the product is used on infected wounds, the infection should be monitored and treated according to local clinical protocol.

How to use

• Cleanse the wound according to normal procedures.
• Select the most suitable dressing format.
• Prepare and clean the periwound skin by removing excess moisture. Remove excess hair to ensure maximum adhesion of the dressing to the wound.
• Apply the white side of the dressing to the wound and secure it with a secondary dressing (eg OPSITE ™ FLEXIFIX ™), plaster or bandage. ALLEVYN Non-Adhesive can be used in combination with compression bandaging in the treatment of venous ulcers.
• The ALLEVYN Non-Adhesive Dressing can be cut to fit anatomical locations that are difficult to dress.
• ALLEVYN Non-Adhesive can be used in conjunction with other treatment methods, such as compression therapy, under the supervision of a healthcare professional. If used under compression therapy, the dressing should be cut to fit the size of the wound.

During the early stages of treatment, the ALLEVYN Non-Adhesive Dressing should be inspected frequently. Dressings can be kept in place without intervention for up to 7 days, or until exudate approaches 1.5 cm from the dressing edge. Also take into account local clinical protocols. The polyurethane outer film is impermeable to liquids and prevents bacterial contamination of the wound. ALLEVYN Non-Adhesive can be used on clinically infected wounds under medical supervision and provided that the infection is appropriately treated.

To remove the ALLEVYN Non-Adhesive Dressing, remove the Secondary Fixation Dressing, then remove ALLEVYN Non-Adhesive by lifting it from the wound.
