Characteristics
Withania somnifera (fam. Solanacea) is a plant of the Indian tradition used as a tonic for all ages and to strengthen the reproductive functions in both men and women. In Ayurvedic medicine it is also known as Indian ginseng as it is traditionally used as a tonic to increase energy, promote general health and longevity. Recent studies have underlined its relaxing and calming activity at the nervous level but also supports the immune system and helps in situations of stress and energy loss.
