Food supplement based on rhodiola rosea L extract, malpighiaglabra L extract, vitamin B2, vitamin B6, vitamin B12, niacin, folate, pantothenic acid and vitamin E. Rhodiola rosea extract has a tonic-adaptogenic effect, tonic effect for tiredness physical and mental and promotes the maintenance of normal mood tone. Malpighia glabra (acerola) extract promotes the body's natural defenses and has a supporting, restorative and antioxidant effect. Vitamin B2, Vitamin B6, Vitamin B12, Niacin, Folate and Acidopantothenic contribute to the reduction of tiredness and fatigue. Vitamin E contributes to the protection of cells from oxidative stress.
Rhodiola rosea extract
From the tonic-adaptogen effect, tonic effect for physical and mental fatigue and favors the maintenance of normal mood [1]. Rhodiolarosea extract is able to promote the normal functions of the nervous system and de-support the organism in adapting to stressful conditions. Rhodiolarosea has an adaptogenic effect, as it is able to affect various physiological parameters including neurotransmitters, the activity of the central nervous system and cardiovascular function [2]. Studies conducted on the animal model have demonstrated the ability of the extract to increase physical performance under stress [3] by preventing the perturbation of the stress axis [4]. Studies conducted on humans have shown its usefulness in asthenic conditions that develop subsequently to intense physical or intellectual activity, infections or other illnesses [5]. They also highlighted that Rhodiolarosea can be a useful adjuvant in mood problems and in favoring attention, resistance to fatigue and performance at work, in study, in sport and in the usual daily activities [6,7,8,9] . The adaptogenic properties of Rhodiola rosea have been mainly attributed to its ability to influence the levels and activity of biogenic monoamines (serotonin, dopamine and noradrenaline), to facilitate the transport of neurotransmitters [10,11] and to activate the receptors of the nervous system [ 12].
Malpighia glabra extract
It favors the body's natural defenses and has a supporting, restorative and antioxidant effect [1,13]. This extract is particularly rich in vitamin Ced and is also a source of beta-carotene [14].
Vitamin C (L-ascorbic acid)
They are due to its ability to oxidize and reduce reversibly. Ascorbic acid is the cofactor of enzymes that catalyze hydroxylation reactions, including the hydroxylation of DOPA for the formation of adrenaline and the hydroxylation of aromatic compounds in the liver. It also intervenes in cell defense processes, favoring the elimination of free radicals through the donation of an electron to the tocopheryl-radical and thus regenerating the antiradical activity of vitamin E. Vitamin C promotes the reduction of folic acid in its coenzymatic forms and intestinal absorption of iron. It is also involved in the synthesis of carnitine, useful for the synthesis of ATP, and in the metabolism of various hormones.
Vitamins of the B complex contribute to the reduction of tiredness and fatigue [15] as they are involved in functions.
Vitamin B2
In the form of two flavin coenzymes (flavinmononucleotide or FMN and flavindinucleotide oFAD), it constitutes the prosthetic group of enzymes that intervene in dioxide-reduction reactions, in particular in the oxidative decarboxylation of pyruvic acid, in the oxidation of fatty acids and amino acids and in the electron transport in the respiratory chain [16].
Vitamin B6
It is linked to numerous enzymes which are involved for the most part in the metabolism reactions of amino acids and other nitrogenous substances (transamination, decarboxylation and racemization). The good use of dietary proteins depends on the supply of this vitamin. Vitamin B6 is also involved in some reactions of glucose (glycogenolysis) and lipid (synthesis of unsaturated fatty acids) metabolism.
Vitamin B12
It participates in reactions such as the conversion of methylmalonyl-CoA to succinyl-CoA in the metabolism of propionic acid which derives from the catabolism of fatty acids or certain amino acids. It is also involved in the metabolism of methyl, and therefore in the synthesis of methionine from homocysteine and other methylated compounds [17].
Niacin
In the form of coenzymes (nicotin adenin dinucleotide or NAD and nicotin adenin dinucleotidephosphate or NADP) it participates in numerous redox reactions, both in catabolic and anabolic processes, such as the synthesis of fatty acids and amino acids.
Folate
It has the function of transferring the monocarbon units from one compound to another in the metabolism of amino acids and in the synthesis of nucleic acids and plays an essential role in many metabolic reactions in which vitamin B12 is also involved. In fact, it participates in the biosynthesis of DNA and RNA, in the methylation of homocysteine to methionine and in the metabolism of some amino acids (interconversion between glycine and serine and histidine catabolism).
Pantothenic acid
It is the precursor of coenzyme A, a fundamental molecule in the metabolism of carbohydrates, amino acids, fatty acids and steroid compounds. Acidopantothenic also enters the composition of the prosthetic group of Acyl-Carrier-Protein (ACP), a transport protein involved in the synthesis of fatty acids.
Vitamin E
It contributes to the protection of cells from oxidative stress [15]: it is the main fat-soluble antioxidant of the cellular antioxidant defensive system. Inside the phospholipidic bilayer of cell membranes it protects the polyunsaturated fatty acids of the membranes from oxidation [18].
