Bariat-ONS GHS - Food for Special Medical Purposes

GEMELLIHEALTH ™ BARIAT-ONS is a Food for Special Medical Purposes (AFMS) with sweeteners intended for the nutritional treatment of morbid obesity and as a nutritional tool for the management of the diet in the perioperative phase of nutritional deficiency in subjects undergoing Bariatric Surgery.

Its composition is characterized by the presence of:

• Hydrolyzed proteins and micellar caseins, which assist in the stimulation of protein synthesis as well as providing essential nutrients.
• Low dextrose-equivalence maltodextrins, which facilitate faster intestinal absorption, an effect desirable in conditions of malabsorption.
• Medium-chain triglycerides The particular structure of these fatty acids makes them more digestible by the gastrointestinal lipases and therefore more usable by the beta-oxidation processes necessary for the production of energy by the fats.
• Fatty acids of the omega-3 series with known anti-fibrotic and anti-inflammatory effects.
• Glutamine, which helps strengthen the immune system; this amino acid promotes the increase of white blood cells. Glutamine is also a key precursor of glutathione, a powerful antioxidant.
• Inulin and FOS, as prebiotic sources, for which a beneficial effect has been recorded on carbohydrate metabolism and on the reduction of fasting blood glucose, total cholesterol and low density lipoprotein (LDL)
• Glucomannan, a high viscosity fiber that has the ability to attract water, generating a soft and gelatinous mass; like all fibers, it slows down the absorption of sugars and fats.
• Alpha-linolenic oil, with known positive effects in both primary and secondary prevention, is believed to be able to induce pleiotropic effects (on mood, stress and mental health in general).
• Bean protein, a macronutrient with excellent nutritional value but which does not affect the fat mass.

The dose must be established by the physician on the basis of the specific needs estimated, according to the degree of obesity of the patient and on the basis of clinical evaluation.

METHOD OF USE AND DOSAGE

GEMELLIHEALTHTM Bariat-ONS is suitable for consumption and oral administration in adult patients, for whom the product has been specifically formulated. The dose must be established by the physician on the basis of the specific needs estimated, according to the degree of obesity of the patient and on the basis of clinical evaluation.

As a guideline it is recommended to take: - In bariatric surgery: 4-8 sachets / day of 25 g each, following the nutritional standards suggested by the doctor.

INSTRUCTIONS

Dissolve 2 sachets of 25 g in about 150 ml of still water at room temperature (or other drink that may be allowed) and mix well before taking. The contents of each bag can be dissolved in a volume of liquid from 150 to 250 ml, until the desired consistency is reached. Use immediately and do not refrigerate after reconstitution.

WARNINGS

GEMELLIHEALTHTM Bariat-ONS must be used under medical supervision and indication. The product is also suitable for use as a sole source of nourishment and must not be administered parenterally. The product may pose health risks if consumed by people not affected by the disease, disorder or pathological state for which the product is indicated.

Store in a cool, dry place, out of the reach of children. The expiry date refers to the product properly stored, in unopened package.
