The Cantharide is a vesicant insect of metallic green color with golden reflections, of the Meloids family, which lives in central-southern Europe. It has a violent inflammatory action on mucous membranes, serous and skin of the urinary and gastrointestinal organs.

For the preparation of TM we use the dried insect containing calcium and magnesium phosphates, choline and acetylcholine, uric acid and cantharidina which has an irritating, blistering and congesting action on the tissues. Cantharide's pathogenesis goes back to Hahnemann.

Main indications

Erythema with confluent itchy flittene and citrine content that can become cloudy and purulent and, following loss of the bullous roof, take on an ulcerated appearance (herpes, pemphingoid herpes zooster, confluent vesicle eczema).
Second degree burns (hot liquids, sun and radiodermatitis). Buccal aphthosis.
Acute keratoconjunctivitis from sunlight.
Acute cystitis with pains before, during and especially at the end of urination, haematological nephritis with anuria, pollakiuria, tenesmus and pain in the kidney region, irritation of the external genitalia. Toxic gastroenteritis with vomiting and bleeding tendency; inflammation of the serous with abundant pleural exudate, constricting pains and intense dyspnea.

Symptoms and methods of reaction

Sensations: intense burning, excruciating pain, hyperesthesia of the inflamed organs.

Dosage

Dilutions from 5 CH to 30 CH even in repeated doses. Locally (sunburn) 1-2 DH in water or waxed preparation.
