Cocculus Indicus 9ch Boiron Homeopathic Remedy
Cocculus Indicus, or Levant nock, is the fruit of Amirta cocculus, a shrub of the Menispermaceae family, native to India or Ceylon. The mother tincture is prepared from a white almond, which is found under a two-layer wooden shell, with a bitter taste; it contains alkaloids and an active ingredient, picrotoxin which, in toxic doses, modifies the action of secondary vestibular neurons, causing vestibular and motor disturbances.
Main indications
By acting on the vestibular part of the eighth pair of cranial nerves, it electively cures dizziness with nausea caused by means of transport, especially if the vagotonic crisis improves with heat and closing the windows of the vehicle, while aggravating by taking food. This remedy is also indicated in dizzying crises with vomiting of the pregnant woman, especially when during pregnancy there is strong restlessness, worry and insomnia. It is indicated in all those who, as a result of alterations in the sleep-wake rhythm (night work, assistance to the sick, long journeys) present accentuated fatigue, lipothymia, dizzying crises. Finally, it finds a valid use in localized paresis, in the presence of arthrosis, caused by extreme weakness of the back muscles.
Psychological characteristics of the patient
The patient is nervous and excitable, hyperaesthetic, trembling, predisposed to dizziness and insomnia, slowness to understand, difficulty in standing upright, especially keeping the head straight. His appearance will be characterized by great paleness of the face and difficulty in keeping his eyes open.
Symptoms and methods of reaction
Vertigo with nausea and great exhaustion; fainting with the feeling of having an empty head; weakness of the neck muscles, which struggle to keep the head up; weakness of the lower back muscles and a feeling of bending of the knees; hypersalivation; numbness in the extremities.
The patient worsens with night watches and fatigue; with passive movement (means of locomotion); with sudden movements of the spine; with noises and emotions; with tobacco smoke; with the cold.
Improve in heat and by being locked in a room.
Dosage
In case of transport sickness, take 5 granules at the 9 CH dilution, sublingual one hour before departure and 5 at the moment of departure, then repeat with other 5 granules as needed, when the symptoms reappear.
In case of dizziness with nausea and vomiting due to complications of cervical arthrosis, 5 granules at the 9 CH dilution, twice a day, thinning according to the improvement.
For insomnia due to fatigue or prolonged wakefulness or worries 5 sublingual granules at dilution 30 CH, in the evening before bedtime.
