Prontosan Detergent made by the Braun brand is an OTC over-the-counter drug, so it can be dispensed directly by the pharmacist without the need for any medical prescription.

Features

It is a detergent particularly suitable for serious wounds and burns, in particular for: pressure injuries, vascular injuries (arterial, venous, others), diabetic foot, fistulas and 1st and 2nd degree burns.

Composition and properties

It is composed of polyhexanide and betaine which together cleanse and decontaminate the wounds by penetrating the biofilm and dissolving the patina of the lesion, safeguarding the tissues. Furthermore, this special cleaning solution prevents biofilm reformation and does not interfere with granulation, and is extremely tolerable for cells and tissues. It can be used repeatedly and over the long term, until the wound is effectively cleaned. The application on the lesion is totally painless.

Warnings

The product cannot be used in delicate parts, such as the ear or eyes, and cannot be mixed with other cleansers or oils. The solution is valid up to 8 weeks after opening.
