Description
3M Cavilon High Protection Barrier Film is a liquid solution that dries quickly, forming a long lasting waterproof barrier film suitable for covering and protecting intact or damaged skin.
It is effective in conditions in which wet and/or dry skin is frequently or continuously exposed to moisture and caustic irritants, such as feces, digestive fluids, wound drainage and urine. The protective barrier film reduces the pain due to incontinence associated dermatitis (IAD) and avoids, stops and/or resolves the effects of this dermatitis.
3M Cavilon High Protection Barrier Film can also be used in areas exposed to friction and on injuries caused by bedding, clothing, shoes or any other material that could create friction on the skin, allowing it to heal.
The applicator is sterilized with ethylene oxide, but the contents of the vial are not sterile. The sterility of the single applicator is guaranteed provided that the envelope is intact.

3M Cavilon High Protection Barrier Film combines a unique cyanoacrylate polymer system. After application to the skin, the liquid dries quickly forming a long-lasting (up to 7 days) impermeable barrier film to liquids.
The product is elastomeric, adheres to the contours of the lesion and forms a uniform film. The film is transparent and has good oxygen and water vapor permeability.
The cyanoacrylate polymer is dispersed in a non-burning solvent.
The film is colourless, non-cytotoxic and does not cause dermatitis. Adheres to dry, moist, or wet skin surfaces (partial or superficial damage to skin thickness) and remains intact under conditions of continuous or repeated exposure to moisture or caustic irritants.
Does not require removal.
The product is radiolucent.

How to use
1. Clean the skin before applying Cavilon High Protection Barrier Film. If necessary, gently dry the intact skin. If there are areas of erosion (damaged skin), excess serous or blood-serum drainage can be dried with gauze if necessary.
2. Open the package and take the applicator. Point the sponge end of the applicator down and push the lever firmly with your thumb to break the inner vial. A click or pop will indicate the breaking of the vial. There is no need to keep pressing the lever.
3. Hold the applicator pointing down for about 10 seconds to allow the liquid to enter the foam sponge; continuous lever pressure is not necessary. Note: The liquid will not completely saturate the sponge to the edges.
4. In an even motion, gently rub the foam sponge into the skin, creating slightly overlapping streaks (see package insert). It is not necessary to apply continuous and/or downward pressure on the lever or applicator: this may cause excessive moisture or liquid collection. Continue the application until the entire affected area is covered. The applicator can be used in any direction. Apply the product to all skin exposed to feces and/or urine or irritating body fluids. Let the area dry for at least 30 seconds. If you have missed an area, wait for the liquid to dry before applying further product.
5. If Cavilon High Protection Barrier Film is applied to a conpie area
