Description
3M Cavilon High Protection Barrier Film is a liquid solution that dries quickly, forming a long lasting waterproof barrier film suitable to cover and protect intact or damaged skin.
It is effective in conditions where wet and / or dry skin is frequently or continuously exposed to moisture and caustic irritants, such as faeces, digestive fluids, wound drainage and urine. The protective barrier film reduces pain due to incontinence associated dermatitis (IAD) and avoids, stops and / or resolves the effects of this dermatitis.
3M Cavilon High Protection Barrier Film can also be used in areas exposed to friction and on injuries from bedding, clothing, shoes or any other material that could create friction on the skin, allowing it to heal.
The applicator is sterilized with ethylene oxide, but the contents of the vial are not sterile. The sterility of the single applicator is guaranteed provided that the pouch is intact.

3M Cavilon High Protection Barrier Film combines a unique polymer system with cyanoacrylate. After application to the skin, the liquid dries quickly forming a long-lasting (up to 7 days) liquid-impermeable barrier film.
The product is elastomeric, adheres to the contours of the lesion and forms a uniform film. The film is transparent and has good oxygen and water vapor permeability.
The cyanoacrylate polymer is dispersed in a non-burning solvent.
The film is colorless, non-cytotoxic and does not cause dermatitis. Adheres to dry, moist or wet skin surfaces (partial or superficial damage to skin thickness) and remains intact under conditions of continuous or repeated exposure to moisture or caustic irritants.
It does not require removal.
The product is radiolucent.

How to use
1. Clean skin before applying Cavilon High protection barrier film. If necessary, gently dry intact skin. If there are areas of erosion (broken skin), excess serous or serum-blood drainage can be wiped with gauze if necessary.
2. Open the package and take the applicator. Direct the applicator tip down with the sponge and push the lever firmly with your thumb to break the inner vial. A click or snap will denote the vial breaking. It is not necessary to continue pressing the lever.
3. Hold the applicator down for about 10 seconds to allow the liquid to enter the foam sponge; continuous pressure of the lever is not necessary. Note: the liquid will not completely saturate the sponge up to the edges.
4. With an even motion, gently rub the foam sponge on the skin, creating slightly overlapping strips (see package insert). It is not necessary to apply continuous and / or downward pressure on the lever or on the applicator: this could cause excessive moisture or liquid collection. Continue the application until the entire affected area is covered. The applicator can be used in any direction.Apply the product on all skin exposed to faeces and / or urine or irritating body fluids. Allow the area to dry for at least 30 seconds. If you have forgotten an area, wait for the liquid to dry before applying further product.
