Intra-Articular Syringe

Lubricating gel with sodium hyaluronate for intra-articular infiltrations

Protected Hyaluronic Acid Sodium Salt

Pre-filled syringe - 2 ml.

Composition
Hyaluronic acid Sodium salt 20 mg, Sodium Chloride, L-carnosine, Sodium Phosphate Bibasic,
Monobasic Sodium Phosphate, Purified water.

Packaging: 1 pre-filled syringe.

Product description
Chondrovisc is available in pre-filled, disposable syringes sterilized with moist heat
which contain 20 mg of hyaluronic acid sodium salt in 2 ml of phosphate buffered saline and carnosine.
The hyaluronic acid of the product has a molecular weight between 600 and 1000 kDalton.
Hyaluronic acid is an essential component of the synovial fluid to which it allows,
thanks to its viscoelastic properties, to keep the articular cartilage in good working order.
It is obtained by fermentation and is therefore free from residual chemical contamination.
The pre-filled syringe has a volume of 3 ml and contains 2 ml of hyaluronic solution
sterile sodium salt.

Indications
The product is used as a substitute for synovial fluid and allows its restoration
physiological and rheological properties which are reduced in the joints affected by diseases
degenerative or post-traumatic and therefore have poor functional mobility
often accompanied by joint pain.

Dosage and method of use
Intraarticularly infiltrate the contents of a pre-filled syringe (containing 2 ml
of sodium hyaluronate solution) once a week for four weeks unless otherwise
doctor's prescription and in consideration of the patient's condition. The cycles of
treatment can be repeated on a quarterly or six-monthly basis according to the opinion
of the doctor.
In case of joint effusion, the latter must be aspirated before injecting the
product.
The injection must take place exclusively in the intraarticular space, at room temperature
and under conditions of strict asepsis.

The package is supplied with a needle of suitable size (diameter 22G, length 40 mm),
Luer type for knee infiltrations to be screwed on with care in order to prevent leakage
of the liquid during injection.
To infiltrate, remove the syringe from the sterile sachet, remove the safety cap,
attach the needle to the syringe and lock it by screwing it slightly. Before infiltrating, delete
any air bubbles from the syringe.
For infiltrations in other joints (Hip and Shoulder), use needles with the following measures:
Shoulder: 19-21G, length 50-60mm
Hip: 19-21G, length 90-110mm

Warnings
Infiltration must be performed by experienced medical personnel.
The product is for single use only, do not reuse. Discard the syringe with the remaining contents afterwards
the application.
Do not use the product if allergic to any of the components.
Do not use if package is damaged.
Avoid infiltration of the joint in case of ongoing or conditions infectious processes
inflammatory conditions of the skin at the site of infiltration. If the joint has symptoms
inflammation, it is good to remove them before infiltrating.
Do not inject into a vein.
Avoid contamination.
Do not use the product if you are pregnant or suspected of being pregnant.

Interactions
Hyaluronic acid interacts with some local anesthetics, increasing the duration of the effect.

Side effects
Sporadic reactions at the injection site such as warmth, pain, itching,
skin rashes and local edema.
These were short lived and resolved spontaneously or through application
of ice. In exceptional cases an anaphylactic reaction could appear e
fever; in this case, suspend the administration and adopt a suitable treatment.
