Two-layer compression system designed to achieve continuous therapeutic compression.

Contains a padded compression bandage, a short-stretch cohesive elastic bandage for strong compression, both latex-free and a stocking. Both bandages have been designed to be applied together and obtain a comfortable and non-slip system during use.

• The padded bandage is a soft, skin-friendly and conformable bandage with a slight cohesive effect that redistributes pressure to avoid injury to bony prominences. It is applied with minimal tension, similar to any padded bandage (50% overlap), offering a slight compression to the ankle.
• The short-stretch cohesive bandage guarantees adequate therapeutic compression. By applying tension to the bandage until the markers printed on the bandage turn into a square, it is easy to consistently apply operator-intended pressure.

The bandages are printed with the word STRONG and the number 40 to facilitate the overlap on both the right and left legs, and to obtain different pressures as decided by the healthcare professional. If a 50% overlap is applied at 40, a pressure of 40 mmHg at rest will be obtained in the ankle. If, on the other hand, more pressure is needed, an overlap of 66% (2/3) will be applied in correspondence with the word STRONG and a pressure of 60 mmHg at rest in the ankle will be obtained.

The cohesive bandaging of the second layer and the applied tension ensure compression for 7 days, guaranteeing the effectiveness of the treatment and offering a better quality of life to the patient. The frequency of changing the compression system will depend on the condition of the wound and the judgment of the healthcare professional. The sock prevents wrinkles and / or creases in the cohesive elastic bandage, protects against friction when walking between legs, makes it easier to put on and take off shoes, and helps the bandage not to stick to sheets or other clothing.

CPK Compress-2 is indicated for the treatment of venous leg ulcers with ankle circumferences between 18-25cm and 25-32cm, lymphatic edema and other clinical conditions where compression is appropriate. The compression system is neither designed nor suitable for use other than that for which it was intended.

Components

The padding bandage (first layer) consists of:

• White 100% polyester fabric; • Micro-perforated transparent polypropylene bag. The cohesive elastic bandage (second layer) is made up of: • longitudinally elastic brown fabric 100% cotton; • Latex-free cohesive mass arranged in the form of a thin layer evenly over the entire surface of the bandage; • Cardboard center; • Transparent microperforated polypropylene bag. Preformed sock 100% polyamide.

Warnings

Contraindicated in case of:
- decompensated heart failure; - aseptic phlebitis; - advanced diabetic microangiopathy; - Phlegmasia cerúlea dolens; - severe arterial occlusive disease in patients with an arm-ankle blood pressure index (ABI) below 0.8; - known hypersensitivity to any of the component materials. Measure the circumference of the ankle to confirm that it is greater than 18 cm or 25 cm (padding). Make sure the correct kit is applied.

Always apply under the supervision of a healthcare professional. It is recommended to have adequate training for the correct application of the compression system. Verify that the patient's ankle-arm pressure index is greater than 0.8 before applying the compression system. Patients with known arterial insufficiency, decompensated heart failure, or advanced diabetic microangiopathy may not tolerate compression. It should be used only on prescription, with careful monitoring and after appropriate treatment. Excessive compression can affect circulation. The application area should be monitored frequently for signs of discoloration, pain, numbness, tingling or other changes in sensation and swelling. If these symptoms appear, the patient should immediately remove the bandage and notify the healthcare provider. If the patient initially does not tolerate full compression, the cohesive bandage can also be applied with less tension leading to less compression. Before applying, it is necessary to carry out the usual diagnostic tests. Wounds should be cleaned and covered with dressings appropriate to their condition. Consult current international guidelines and local infection control regulations. If the compression system gets wet, loosens, or no longer fits the shape of the bandaged area, it should be changed. Do not reuse. Reuse may compromise product integrity or cause product ineffectiveness. Any serious incident related to the product must be reported to the manufacturer and the competent authority of the Member State where the user and / or patient is established.
