Carpinus betulus (hornbeam):
The hornbeam, common throughout Italy, is especially widespread in mountain stations. It endures shade and repeated cuts and rarely reaches its maximum height which is 24 meters and more. The male flowers, in catkins, are on the same tree together with the female inflorescence, difficult to discover due to its green color with only a very small red tuft at the tip of the branch. It blooms in April. The floral remedy is prepared with the boiling method with the tips of the branches cut for a length of about 12-15 cm, to have both the male and female flower.
