Difesan what it is for

Difesan is a single use device containing 7 single-dose vaginal application systems. Each vaginal application system consists of a polyethylene vaginal applicator and a tablet contained therein.

Based on Lactoferrin (300mg)

What action does Difesan take?

The product can be used for different treatments:

• As an adjuvant treatment useful for the prevention of preterm birth in the presence of reduced cervicometry or not corresponding to the gestational period.
• As an adjunct in the prevention of spontaneous abortion and preterm birth.
• As an adjunct in the prevention against the increased risk of abortion related to invasive procedures such as Amniocentesis or Villocentesis.
• As an adjunct in the prevention and treatment of female infertility.

How Difesan works

Difesan is useful for the prevention of preterm birth in the presence of reduced cervicometry or not corresponding to the gestational period and as an adjunct in the prevention of spontaneous abortion and preterm birth.

Method of use and dosage of Difesan

It is advisable to act in this way for the use of Difesan:

Take a vaginal applicator out of its packaging with special care. Introduce the applicator deeply into the vagina and release the tablet contained in it by gently pressing the plunger.

• As an adjuvant treatment useful for the prevention of preterm birth in the presence of reduced cervicometry or not corresponding to the gestational period: it is recommended to use 1 vaginal tablet per day, preferably in the evening before going to bed, for 21 consecutive days, repeatable, up to 40th week, or according to a different medical indication.
• As an adjunct in the prevention of spontaneous abortion and preterm birth: it is recommended to use 1 vaginal tablet per day, preferably in the evening before going to bed, for 7 consecutive days every month from the beginning of pregnancy up to the thirty-seventh week, or according to different medical indication.
• As an adjuvant in the prevention against the increased risk of abortion linked to invasive procedures such as Amniocentesis or Villocentesis: it is recommended to use 1 vaginal tablet on the day of the examination and to continue with subsequent applications every 12 hours until the package is used up.
• As an adjuvant in the prevention and treatment of female infertility: it is recommended to use 1 vaginal tablet a day, preferably in the evening before going to bed, for 7 consecutive days in repeatable cycles, or according to different medical indications.

Warnings and Contraindications for Difesan

The product is for vaginal use. When the tablet dissolves, it may cause pale pink discharge, due to the natural color of Lactoferrin, salmon pink. Be careful not to ingest. Do not use in case of hypersensitivity and incompatibility towards any component of the product. The product May contain lactose. In confirmed or presumed pregnancy and in the case of concomitant local pharmacological therapies, the use of the vaginal tablet must only take place on the advice of your doctor or pharmacist. The product is not intended for pediatric use. Keep the product out of sight and reach of children. Prolonged use of the product, as with all topical products, can give rise to sensitization or local irritation, if this happens, stop the treatment and consult your doctor or pharmacist. Do not use the product if the package, upon first opening, is damaged or not perfectly intact. Use the product in accordance with the instructions for use. Do not use the product after the expiry date indicated on the package.
There are no known or expected side effects related to the use of the product. The tests carried out on the product to date have not shown sensitization phenomena or other side effects. In case of persistent discomfort, consult your doctor.
