Drawtex Aurora Biofarma - Medical Device

Drawtex ® is the first hydroconductive wound dressing . It features the unique LevaFiber ™ technology that helps prepare the wound bed effectively without damaging newly formed tissue. 1-4.

For its three types of action (capillary, hydroconductive and electrostatic), made possible by the exclusive Leva Fiber Technology, Drawtex is more than a simple absorber. Drawtex can be used as a first-line dressing as part of the standard of care for wound bed preparation.

Based on clinical data, Drawtex has been shown to address the challenges of wound bed preparation in the following ways:

• Manages and controls excessive wound exudate 1,6
• Facilitates removal of wound debris 5
• Attracts bacteria from the wound bed into the dressing 7,8
• Extracts harmful MMPs from the wound bed into the dressing 8,12
• Sets the foundation for endogenous wound healing or wound closure procedures 3

Because Drawtex Wound Dressing pulls exudate away from the wound surface, it also removes toxic components, such as slough, wound debris and bacteria, which impair wound healing. 5-12 By dispersing exudate both vertically and horizontally, Drawtex controls and holds wound fluid so that it can be transferred to additional layers of Drawtex as needed.

Wound bed preparation is the management of a wound in order to accelerate endogenous healing or to facilitate the effectiveness of other therapeutic measures. 2 Recent data has been published showing how wound treatment with Drawtex meets the complex challenges of wound bed preparation 3

How Drawtex® Wound Dressing Works Technology
Leva Fiber ™ provides three different types of action.

  • Capillary action gives Drawtex its ability to move exudate and wound debris into the porous material of the dressing. With the small pores acting as capillaries, the intermolecular attractive forces between the exudate and the solid surfaces of the wound dressing allow the exudate to be drawn upward against the force of gravity.
  • Hydroconductive action is controlled by Darcy's law which defines the ability of a fluid to flow through porous media. The fluid can go from wetter to drier, even against gravity. This explains how water can be transported from the roots of a tree to the leaves. Drawtex Leva Fiber TM technology allows the dressing to lift, hold and transfer wound exudate both vertically and horizontally by hydroconductive action.
  • Electrostatic action occurs when the negatively charged Drawtex Wound Dressing comes into contact with wound exudate. The exudate ions form a mobile layer of opposite charge known as an electrical double layer, effectively reversing the charge on the dressing surface to become positive. This allows the dressing to extract a relatively large amount of exudate, devitalized tissue, bacteria and deleterious chemical mediators.

DESIGNED FOR ANY WOUND

  • SACRAL SHAPE: It folds into a heart-shaped wound, while the vertical crevices widen slightly, filling the area.
  • SPIRAL SHAPE: To fill cavities or cover amputations
  • STOMA SHAPE: To fit G-tubes and tracheostomy tubes. The Drawtex Tracheostomy Dressing can be used.
  • FORM OF DISCHARGE: To drain by cutting strips with the opposite end entering a colostomy bag.
