Components and main activities

Linseed oil (Linum usitatissimum L. supported by silicon dioxide) From these seeds, which are particularly rich in mineral salts, proteins and especially lipids, it is possible to extract an oil consisting of about 40-60% of α-linolenic acid ( a fatty acid of the omega-3 series), about 23% from oleic acid (fatty acid from the omega-9 series) and about 15% from Linoleic acid (fatty acid from the omega-6 series). The biological properties of flaxseed oil are clearly due to the presence of α-linolenic acid, progenitor of the essential fatty acids of the Omega 3 series (from which EPA and DHA are synthesized), known for their marked anti-inflammatory activities and immunoregulatory.
