Durafiber - Medical Device
Medical device CE, class IIb sterile dressing (gamma rays) in gelling ethyl sulphonated cellulose fibers.
Useful in case of management of chronic and acute wounds, partial or total thickness lesions, or superficial granulating wounds. For example leg ulcers, pressure ulcers, diabetic ulcers, surgical wounds, wounds that heal by second attention, skin sampling sites, fistulas and tunneled wounds, partial thickness burns, traumatic wounds and wounds prone to bleeding such as mechanically or surgically debrided wounds.
The product does not contain resins and natural rubber (latex) which represent an allergenic potential.
Mechanism of action
The ethyl sulphonation treatment, like other chemical processes to which the cellulose fibers may be subjected (for example carboxymethylation) makes the resulting Ethyl Sulphonated Cellulose (ESC) absorbent and gelling. In contact with the exudate, the ESC dressing absorbs it vertically, controlling its lateral dispersion; it gels and traps both the exudate and the bacteria contained in its structure. In this way it reduces the risk of maceration and avoids the escape of fluids, even under compression. The gelling of the fibers allows the dressing to conform to the wound surface, uniformly maintaining a moist environment for healing on the wound bed and reducing gaps where bacteria could proliferate. The particular chemical treatment process also makes the gelled dressing less subject to shrinkage and very resistant to traction: even in the case of application in cavities or fistulous tracts, the dressing does not break easily during removal from the wounds.
Composition and structure
Dressing in ethyl sulphonated cellulose fibers. The dressing consists of a TNT weave. The dressing absorbs and interacts with the exudate, transforming into a soft, transparent, hydrophilic gel. 80% ethyl sulphonated cellulose fibers and 20% cellulose fibers.
How to use
The dressing can be left in place for up to 7 days or changed as clinically indicated (e.g. in case of leaking exudate or excessive bleeding). The local clinical protocol should also be considered.
storage
Cool and dry place with temperature below 25 ° C, away from direct light.
Format
Pack of 5 dressings.
