How does this thermometer work and how exactly is the Geratherm basal thermometer?

Just like a mercury thermometer, the Geratherm basal thermometer detects the slightest changes in body temperature. Its accuracy is confirmed and checked by the National Office for Measurements and Calibrations in Thuringen. It is authorized to carry the CE 0118 mark. We work with an ISO 9002 quality control system, certified by the TÙV (Technical Surveillance Office) of ThUringen. Who should use the basal thermometer? Characteristics

The liquid used (Galinstan) is non-toxic. So if the thermometer breaks, you just need to clean yourself with hot soapy water - as opposed to mercury which is toxic. Galinstan cannot be put in contact with noble or light metals, as a reaction is established. The thermometer should be stored at a temperature that must not be below -15 ° C and above 39 ° C. Before proceeding with the temperature measurement, check if the column is below the 36 ° C mark.

Cleaning and disinfection

The basal thermometer is equipped with a hermetically sealed hygienic glass envelope and can be disinfected without restrictions. The temperature of the cleaning and disinfectant solution must not exceed 39 ° C. Higher temperatures cause the thermometer to break. The "Geratherm'B Mercury Free" basal thermometer is a safe and efficient alternative and does not need batteries to replace.

How to use

After the measurement, bring the column back below the 36 ° C mark, taking the thermometer at the top and making semicircular movements. This movement, due to the density of the measuring liquid, lower than that of the mercury, must be repeated often (about 20 times). When and where should the temperature be monitored?

The temperature should be taken every morning at the same time, before getting up, by putting the thermometer under the tongue for at least 3 minutes. Do not eat, drink or smoke before taking the temperature. The temperature can also be measured rectally. In this case the measurement time must be 3 minutes. However, you have to decide which method you intend to use in order to have a uniformity of detection. The temperature value must be reported in the table supplied with the thermometer.
