Characteristics
Erisimus seems particularly effective in treating hoarseness and aphonies; as it helps to alleviate the painful symptoms associated with dryness and inflammation of the larynx and pharynx. It is considered a specific remedy for laryngitis following vocal effort. Chamomile has anti-inflammatory activity to be attributed above all to the flavonoid content and in particular to the apigenin - 7 - glucoside. In addition to inhibiting vascular phenomena linked to inflammation, it also significantly blocks the cellular component of the inflammatory event. Chamomile also has antimicrobial activity. Agrimony has a decongestant, resolving and sedative activity in inflammatory processes of the oropharynx. The presence of triterpenes and tannins justify its use as anti-inflammatory, healing, antiseptic, analgesic and light astringent in pharyngitis. Icelandic Lichen has emollient activity; the mucilages exhibit protective properties at the level of inflamed or irritated mucous membranes; the presence of usnic diacid confers antibiotic properties. It also has an immunostimulating activity. The Oak owes its properties to the presence of tannins, which have an antiseptic, vasoconstrictive, moderate local analgesic and antiviral action. It has a valid anti-inflammatory action on the mucous membranes. Echinacea exhibits immunological activity; in fact, it determines an increase in endogenous defenses, through non-specific stimulation of the immune system. It is able to strengthen the body's defenses against flu or inebrile syndromes, affecting the upper respiratory tract. It can be used both in a preventive way and in the disease in progress. Echinacea determines a reduction in the duration of the disease and a gradual disappearance of symptoms both as regards objective and subjective symptoms with consequent improvement of the clinical picture.
