Dandelion extract can increase biliary secretions, this increase is due to a stimulation of the biliary secretory activity and therefore to a coleretic action
Dandelion has a powerful diuretic activity, superior to most other hepatic drugs. The laxative action is mild. It is therefore used both as a depurative and as a draining agent.
In biliary lithiasis it has a preventive action, that is, it determines the stimulation of cellular function and metabolism in general; it should be emphasized that it has only preventive activity, it is not in fact indicated for the dissolution of stones already present.
It also has a cholesterol-lowering action.
Dandelion can also be used in slimming treatments, not because it takes away the appetite, but for its purifying properties.
