Active principles
EPA (eicosapentaenoic acid): polyunsaturated fatty acid of the omega 3 series, which appears to be the main component of fish oil. It is the precursor of some prostaglandins, leukotrienes and thromboxanes, molecules involved in cardiovascular function.
DHA (docosahexaenoic acid): polyunsaturated fatty acid of the omega-3 series which has a very rapid turnover; it is essential for the proper functioning of the nervous system, where it is found in high concentrations and from which it is selectively absorbed.
