Herbaceous plant about 150 cm tall. with dense lanceolate leaves along the stem and dense purple-violet flower spikes.

Curiosity
The name of the genus comes from the Greek with the meaning of above the lobes, with reference to the position of the petals inserted above the ovary. In popular nomenclature it is also called Carnation greater, red stems, Behen red.

Active principles:
Flavonoids (quercetin, campferol, sitosterol, sitosterol-3-beta-D-glucoside, myricetin), acids
triterpene (ursolic, oleanolic), gallic tannins, mucilages, pectins, essential oils.

External use
A teaspoon of alcohol solution diluted in a glass of water is an excellent mouthwash
use for gargle in case of tonsillitis, canker sores, gingivitis and laryngitis.

Internal use (hydroalcoholic solution)
Astringent, emollient, anti-inflammatory and antiprostatic properties.
Indications : Prostatitis, prostate adenoma, intestinal inflammation.
Dosage : 40 drops in a little water three times a day between meals.
