CLAY is a mineral, chemically corresponds to hydrated aluminum silicate and in its pure state it is white in color. Clay is an excellent antacid that acts with a double mechanism: both as a buffer of gastric acidity and as an absorbent, therefore it neutralizes and at the same time absorbs the excess hydrochloric acid present in the stomach. Thanks to its absorbent capacity, Clay is also administered as an intestinal antitoxic, in diarrheal forms and in infectious diseases of the digestive tract. As an indirect consequence of the antitoxic action of the clay administered internally, there is an aesthetic improvement of the skin and general appearance. Clay is also useful as a remineralizer, thanks to the numerous trace elements it contains as impurities, precious in this case. It is known how much modern food science gives importance to trace elements, which are essential for the good enzymatic functioning of the organism. The diet of modern man is often deficient in trace elements both because the modern hectic life does not allow you to take complete and balanced meals, and because foods prepared with ingredients obtained from forced cultivation are lacking in minerals necessary for a complete and balanced diet.

Clay is also widely used in medicine to treat suppurating wounds, wet eczema, for vaginal douches with a deodorant action. The action is partly due to the protection of the finely divided powder which covers with a protective film the tissues altered by inflammatory phenomena, ulcerations, etc., and partly to the well-known and very important physico-chemical phenomenon called absorption.
