Exufiber
Description
Interactive absorbent dressing made of non-woven polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) gelling fibers. Exufiber is indicated for the management of a wide range of moderately to heavily exuding wounds such as:
- ulcers of the lower limbs
- pressure ulcers
-partial thickness burns
- surgical wounds
-donor sites
-tumor/neoplastic lesions.
Exufiber is a hydrophilic dressing that absorbs and retains moderate to heavy exudates. In contact with fluids, Exufiber fibers interact with exudates and gel immediately, facilitating natural wound healing in a moist environment and removal during dressing change.
Benefits : soft and conformable, it is easy to apply; can be cut to fit the lesion; high absorbent capacity, for moderate and very abundant exudates, even under compression; effectively retains exudates (Hydrolock* technology), maintaining a moist wound environment; high compactness, which allows removal in one piece; absorbs and retains exudate, bacteria and blood; can remain in place during radiotherapy and imaging sessions; it exerts a modulation activity of the proteases, balancing the inflammatory response.
* Hydrolock technology: patented technology, present exclusively in Exufiber, which actively interacts with exudates and, thanks to the particular weaving of polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) fibers. It gives high resistance and compactness to the dressing when wet. It prevents fluids from moving freely within the dressing, giving it excellent exudate-holding capacity.
Composition
Exufiber is made from 100% polyvinyl alcohol (PVA).
How to use
1) Clean the wound with saline or water. Dry the periwound skin.
2) The dressing should be larger than the wound. At least 1-2 cm for smaller sizes and 5 cm for larger sizes. For deep wounds, insert the dressing into the cavity, leaving enough space to allow the dressing to to swell during absorption.
3) Cover with an appropriate secondary dressing, depending on the level of exudate. Exufiber can be used under an elastic compression bandage.
Dressing Replacement and Removal : Replace Exufiber Dressing when fully saturated, leaking, or as directed by clinical protocol. Exufiber can remain in situ for up to 7 days (14 days sudonor site), depending on the condition of the lesion or the indications of the clinical protocol.
-Remove the secondary dressing and dispose of it appropriately.
-If necessary, remove the Exufiber dressing by gently cleansing/rinsing. Non-gelled portions will moisten on contact with a liquid.
-If the dressing dries up and is difficult to remove, it is recommended to moisten it with sterile saline or water according to clinical protocols until it can be easily removed. Exufiber may take several minutes to gel.
-Remove the dressing by gently cleansing/rinsing.
Warnings
All injuries should be checked frequently. In the event that symptoms of infection occur, consult a qualified healthcare professional for appropriate treatment.
Exufiber is not indicated for the treatment of dry wounds or full thickness burns.
The dressing gelation process may take a few minutes. Gently remove.
