INFORMATION ON INDIVIDUAL COMPONENTS

Iron : it is essential for life, it is used to transport oxygen in the blood, for normal energy metabolism, it intervenes in the cell division process, promotes the normal formation of red blood cells and hemoglobin.
In an adult man there are about 4-5 grams of iron, variously distributed; about 70% of iron is contained in red blood cells, bound to hemoglobin.
Every day, humans lose about 1 milligram of iron due to the desquamation of old cells that line the skin or intestines, and it is the intestine that is the site of exogenous iron absorption.
In women of childbearing age, menstrual cycles can double or even triple the amount lost.
Iron, lost daily, must be replenished to maintain the correct natural balance.
If this does not happen, both because the losses are excessive and because the amount absorbed is insufficient, a state of iron deficiency develops which, over time, could lead to complications such as anemia.
In pregnancy, iron intake is useful for the fetus for the synthesis of new red blood cells and for psychomotor development.

Vitamin C : the intake of vitamin C promotes the absorption of iron because it protects cells from oxidative stress.

Folic acid : Folic acid is not produced by the body but must be taken with food to be then assimilated and used.
The daily requirement, under normal conditions, of folic acid is about 0.2 mg.
Folic acid promotes the growth of maternal tissues during pregnancy, the normal synthesis of amino acids and participates in the normal process of hematopoiesis and cell division.
In general, during pregnancy a folic acid deficiency can more easily give rise to adverse outcomes such as: intrauterine growth retardation, premature birth and placental lesions.
During pregnancy, the daily requirement of folic acid is 0.4 mg, as the fetus uses the maternal reserves.
In adults, folic acid deficiency can manifest itself with anemia, which is related to high levels of the amino acid homocysteine, considered a cardiovascular risk index.

IRON

Iron is an essential element for the human body, it is distributed through the blood and is deposited in various tissues. Its biological significance can vary according to the various districts to which it belongs, we can distinguish the active iron, contained in hemoglobin and respiratory enzymes; transport iron, present in the blood; the reserve iron, deposited in the tissues in the form of ferritin. Its total content is kept constant by a complex regulatory mechanism, called the inorganic iron cycle. It is estimated that, to ensure the correct balance of iron turnover, the introduction of 1 mg of iron per day with food is sufficient. The foods richest in iron are: red meats, liver, egg yolk, spinach, oysters and almost all green leafy vegetables. In women, the demand for iron can increase considerably during pregnancy, breastfeeding or the menstrual period. Even childhood and adolescence are periods in which iron deficiency can occur, which can increase the demand for it. If the daily intake is not guaranteed through nutrition, in order to prevent deficiencies of this element, which could manifest themselves in the form of anemia (iron deficiency anemia), it is possible to resort to integration with specific products. The intake of 15-20 mg of iron, allows the achievement of the correct quantities, both in pregnant women and in subjects who show deficiencies of this element.

Orosoluble Ferronam helps to fill food shortages or increased organic needs for Iron, Vitamin C and Folic Acid. It is formulated based on specific dosages for pregnant women.
The particular technology of orosoluble Ferronam has been specially designed to favor its absorption and improve palatability, thus avoiding the unpleasant taste typical of iron-based products.
