Finger Pulse Oximeter C101A3 IDMK Portable Device

Portable Professional Electromedical Device, with two functions

  • Measurement of oxygen saturation in arterial hemoglobin (SpO2). Oxygen saturation is a parameter that detects the percentage of oxygen molecules linked to hemoglobin (oxyhemoglobin), thus allowing to establish the state of hypoxemia, which consists in the decrease in the amount of oxygen in arterial blood, which causes pathologies such as: cyanosis , tachycardia, dyspnoea, disturbances in attention, mood, insomnia and motor coordination, increased pulmonary pressure.
  • Heart Pulse Measurement in adults, adolescents and children from 2 years of age. Heart rate (HR) is nothing more than the number of beats or pulsations or the speed of contractions in a given period of time. A normal HR for an adult at rest is between 60-100 bpm. When the heart rate exceeds 100 bpm at rest, it is called tachycardia. Conversely, if it is too slow, i.e. less than 60 bpm at rest, it is called bradycardia.

Why use it

Non-invasive monitoring of oxygen saturation values is important both in the course of health emergencies and in the home, to quickly assess the need for assisted ventilation.

The situations in which it is most used are

  • Evaluation of the patient's general respiratory function during specialist medical examinations.
  • Constantly measuring the degree of saturation and HR of hospitalized patients.
  • Constantly tracking - even at home - the parameters of patients suffering from airway diseases, such as: COPD; Chronic bronchitis; Bronchial asthma; Pneumonia; Other pulmonary and pleural diseases.
  • Monitor hemoglobin saturation in patients with sleep apnea syndrome.
  • Evaluate respiratory function in smokers.
  • Determine the presence or absence of any damage to respiratory function in patients exposed to pollutants.

How to read the results

The percentage of hemoglobin saturated with oxygen in normal conditions of non-smokers is greater than 95%, with optimal values around 97-98%.

However, in the presence of some diseases, mainly lung, a lower percentage of red blood cells binds and carries oxygen to the body; consequently, the oxygen saturation drops below 95% and, once values below 90% are reached, we speak of hypoxemia, or a reduced quantity of oxygen in the blood.

A value below 80% testifies to a severe hypoxic state.
