Rice (Oryza sativa L.) is a herbaceous plant of Asian origin. In China it was cultivated for food purposes as early as the sixth millennium BC, as evidenced by some finds found in sites from the Neolithic era. Even today it is the main food and source of livelihood of many countries in the southern hemisphere.

The rice flakes are obtained by steaming the rice and subsequently pressing the grains.

This raw material is naturally gluten-free, but its consumption cannot be recommended to a celiac subject as in the packaging phase it could be subject to contamination from contact with other raw materials that contain gluten.
