Osteoarthritis is the most common form of arthritis and is one of the main causes of pain and disability in the elderly and in predisposed people; it is characterized by damage to the articular cartilage with consequent bone remodeling and can cause joint pain, limitation of movement, motor instability and disability.
It tends to mainly affect the knees, the spine and the hip and hand joints with a variable course that can take on a chronic nature or manifest itself with acute episodes.
Osteoarthritis therapy includes both non-pharmacological (weight loss, physiotherapy) and pharmacological (analgesic / non-steroidal anti-inflammatory) measures and aims at relieving symptoms (pain, joint stiffness) and restoring joint function. (s) affected.
In recent years, alongside drug therapy, the use of "chondroprotectors" such as glucosamine and chondroitin sulfate has spread.
Glucosamine sulphate is the precursor of glucosaminoglycans, the main components of joint cartilage; it is therefore useful for increasing cartilage consistency and for slowing down the laceration of the joints in patients suffering from osteoarthritis. In vitro, glucosamine is able to modify the metabolism of chondrocytes (the cells that produce the components of cartilage) and to perform an immunomodulatory function that would lead to a reduction in inflammation.
Some studies have shown that glucosamine sulfate is able to relieve osteoarticular pain almost equivalent to paracetamol or other NSAIDs, although it requires more.
Chondroitin sulfate is a glucosaminoglycan sulphate, a structural component of cartilage, able to resist stress thanks to its ability to recall and retain water. Under physiological conditions, it contributes to the elasticity of the cartilage and inhibits its degradation by the enzymes elastase and hyaluronidase. Recent studies have also shown its anti-angiogenic and therefore anti-inflammatory action at the synovial level.
The association between the two polysaccharides would therefore have a synergistic function in slowing the progression of joint damage.
Recent studies have demonstrated the importance of boron in the treatment of arthritis: it acts as a membrane catalyst to allow phosphate ions and ATP to enter the cell and thus supply energy for cell division aimed at tissue repair; it also modulates some cytokines at the level of the articular joints thus carrying out an anti-inflammatory action.
Calcium and phosphorus are two very important ions for bone metabolism: they interact for the formation and maintenance of bones and even teeth. It has been shown that an imbalance in the relationship between these two nutrients leads to various ailments including arthritis; consequently, maintaining the calcium-phosphorus balance thanks to a correct diet and the intake of supplements can be useful in alleviating the symptoms.
FLEXITRON is therefore indicated in osteoarthritis in order to reduce pain, sensitivity and swelling in the joints; it is also used to improve range of motion in arthritic patients and for protective and preventive purposes on cartilage, by stimulating the production of proteoglycans, glucosaminoglycans and collagen.
We recommend taking 2 FLEXITRON capsules a day with a little water, preferably with meals.
Keep out of the reach of children under the age of three. Do not exceed the recommended daily dose. Supplements are not intended as a substitute for a varied, balanced diet and a healthy lifestyle.
