ORGANIC CAROB FLOUR

Carob flour obtained from the seeds of the fruit becomes a healthy alternative to cocoa but not only. Unlike cocoa powder - of which it is considered a substitute as it recalls its flavor - it does not contain caffeine, it is rich in natural sugars, vegetable fibers and carbohydrates, but low in fat. It does not contain cholesterol. It contains B vitamins, vitamin A, magnesium and potassium and minerals such as calcium and iron, and boasts satiating properties (able to reduce the gastric emptying speed and therefore to prolong the sense of satiety), therefore recommended for those following a weight loss diet.

ADVICE FOR USE

The most common use of carob flour occurs in the preparation of desserts, to replace cocoa powder in a recipe, it is sufficient to use carob flour in the same quantity. It can also be used as a natural thickener in the preparation of soups, sweet creams, sauces for condiments, jams and ice creams. A part of carob flour can represent an additional ingredient in the preparation of fresh pasta or a special bread. In Sicily, carob flour is used for the preparation of gnocchi, risotto, tagliatelle, mostaccioli and granite.
