It is a subtropical plant of the Clusiaceae family, the part used is essentially the peel of the fruit which contains vitamins, carotenoids, flavonoids and hydroxycitric acid (HCA) capable of inhibiting the enzyme ATP citrate lyase, which is great relevance in fat metabolism.
