Linear chain polysaccharide formed by glucose and mannose chains joined by beta 1-4 bonds. The molecular weight is approximately 2,000,000.

PROPERTY'

Glucomannan: is a linear chain polysaccharide formed by glucose and mannose chains joined by beta 1-4 bonds. The molecular weight is approximately 2,000,000. The water molecules penetrate the chains and are absorbed, causing swelling up to 200 times the original volume of glucomannan and making it sticky. This increases the viscosity of the gastrointestinal contents and slows down the emptying of the stomach. There is a decrease in appetite due to the increase in volume. Thanks to its high molecular weight and viscosity, it tends to incorporate ingested foods, slowing down and decreasing intestinal absorption. Glucomannan also incorporates cholesterol, bile acids, heavy metals, etc., preventing their absorption and facilitating their elimination with the faeces; it is therefore possible to obtain a reduction in the levels of cholesterol, triglycerides and sugar in the serum. Due to the viscosity and the volumetric increase there is also a regulation of intestinal transit useful when there is a tendency to constipation.

Obesity, overweight, especially if due to excessive nutrition.

NOTE

Due to the characteristics of Glucomannan to incorporate various particles and limit their absorption, avoid taking it concomitantly or near drugs as it can decrease absorption and slow it down.
