Granudacyn
Description
Class IIB Medical Device (Directive 93/42/EEC). Sterile.
Super oxidized solution for irrigation of wounds. Granudacyn is a stable pH 7.2 aqueous solution, ready to use.
Granudacyn is suitable for pre-, intra- and post-operative irrigation of the surgical area. Granudacyn can be used for irrigation of the peritoneal cavity, retroperitoneal space and ligaments. No rinsing or neutralization is necessary. Thanks to its high tolerability, Granudacyn can also be used in all negative or positive pressure therapies, e.g. VACUltra. It can be used in body cavities such as the mouth, nose, throat, ears and in the peritoneal cavity. Its application is possible on exposed bones, joints, bones, cartilage, ligaments and tendons.
Granudacyn reduces the microbial load on the wound due to the mechanical effect of the lavage and can prevent wound infection if regularly applied. Granudacyn also facilitates the mechanical removal of microorganisms and cellular disintegration. It also quickly eliminates the unpleasant odor of the wound. Granudacyn can be left in the wound. It also facilitates debridement since even the pre-damaged cells, present in large numbers in slightly infected wounds, heal faster thanks to the action of Granudacyn.
Cleaning with mechanical removal of microorganisms and prevention of disintegration prevents the growth of bacteria, viruses, spores and fungi in the product and dressings and gauze soaked with Granudacyn. It can remain in the wound and does not require rinsing. To improve the healing process by increasing the oxygen supply, Granudacyn can be successfully combined with the use of Granulox.
Latex free.
Technical features
Granudacyn prevents the growth of gram positive and gram negative bacteria [including Staphylococcus Aureus, methicillin resistant (MRSA)], viruses, fungi and spores in moistened wound dressings. Several in vitro studies have demonstrated a 99.99% reduction of clinically relevant microorganisms after 30 seconds which prevents the growth of microorganisms in the irrigation solution or in solution-moistened dressings.
Components
Water, sodium chlorite, sodium hypochlorite, hypochlorous acid.
How to use
It can be warmed before use (up to 37°C). Rinse the wound thoroughly with Granudacyn and leave to absorb briefly. The procedure can be repeated several times a day or at each dressing change. Alternatively the wound can be cleaned with a gauze soaked in Granudacyn. Encrusted dressings can be removed with Granudacyn without trauma. If necessary, spray Granudacyn and then apply the dressing as usual. It can be effectively combined with topical hemoglobin (Granulox).
Warnings
No adverse reactions are known.
Non-cytotoxic. Hypochlorous acid (HOCl) is an important part of the immune system and is produced and released by macrophages as an endogenous substance during phagocytosis.
Unlike unicellular pathogens, larger organized structures, such as human tissue, have evolved a protective mechanism that makes them resistant to hypochlorous acid which ensures the excellent tolerability of Granudacyn.
It can be used for an unlimited period of time.
The stability and sterility of Granudacyn are guaranteed until the expiry date stated on the package as long as the package has not been opened.
