GRAVIOLA (Annona Muricata)

Hydroglycerol solution

Graviola belongs to the annonaceae family and the one we treat is the annona muricata botanical species. Popular common names of Graviola are Graviola, Annona, Guanabana. Graviola is a small evergreen tree native to most tropical areas of South and North America, including the Amazon. It produces a large and yellow-green fruit that can weigh up to 5 kg, with a diameter of 15-23 centimeters containing a soft white pulp inside. Fruits grow on a small, straight evergreen tree, 5-6 m tall with large, shiny dark green leaves. Graviola is popular in Brazil for its pleasant aroma and unique flavor. The fruit, sold in many markets in the tropics, is called guanabana in Spanish-speaking countries, and graviola in Brazil. All parts of Graviola are used in herbal medicine, especially the leaves, bark and roots to which different properties are attributed. The properties are attributed to Graviola: antibacterial, anthelmintic, antispasmodic, antitumor, mood modulating, antispasmodic, astringent, cytotoxic, febrifuge, insecticide, antihypertensive, expectorant, sedative, stomachic, vasodilator. Some studies have highlighted the possibility that the alkaloids present in Graviola have strong antidepressant effects and, for this reason, in-depth research is underway. For its composition it is tested for its alleged anti-cancerous properties, in fact many bioactive and phytochemical compounds have been found in Graviola that scientists have been studying since 1940 and the many uses in natural medicine have been validated by scientific research. Three separate research groups have isolated the acetogenin serioola compounds in and demonstrated significant anticancer and anticarcinogenic properties (selective toxicity against various types of cancer cells without harming healthy cells). Eight clinical studies have been published on their findings. Many of the acetogenins have demonstrated selective toxicity to cancer cells at very low dosages. Four of these studies were published in 1998 and demonstrate the strong antitumor and antiviral capacity of Graviola extracts. Experiments conducted in the late 1970s by the National Cancer Institute (USA) showed an active cytotoxicity against cancer cells present in the leaves and stem of Graviola, for which researchers have since continued their studies until they discover compounds in the plant called annnonaceous acetogenins qualifications appear to possess the ability to inhibit cell growth of certain types of cancer (colon, breast and lungs). A study at the Catholic University of South Korea seems to have shown that a Graviola acetogenin is 10,000 times higher than a chemotherapy drug such as adriamycin.

PRECAUTIONS, SIDE EFFECTS, Interactions: No significant interactions have been found with any drug. In any case, Graviola CAN enhance the effect of drugs against hypertension and cardiodepressants.
