Babyhaler

Inhaler Children

Spacer device.
Inhalation chamber for infants and small children.
The Babyhaler is a device that helps infants and toddlers to take inhaled medicines. Babyhaler has a soft face mask that she can gently place on her baby's nose and mouth. The Babyhaler will help ensure that your baby takes the correct dose of medicine each time.
The goggle is available in two sizes: a standard goggle and a mini goggle. Babyhaler comes with the standard mask, which is suitable for most babies. A smaller mask (mini mask) is also available in the pharmacy.

How to use
Read the entire package leaflet carefully before you start using this device.
- Keep this leaflet. You may need to read it again.
- If you have any further questions, ask your doctor or pharmacist.
- The medicine that is used with this device has been prescribed for your child. Do not pass it on to others, even if their symptoms are the same as those of your child, as it may harm them.
- For reasons of hygiene, Babyhaler is for use by one patient only.
- Do not let your baby play with the Babyhaler.
For use only with Glaxosmithklin inhalers as prescribed by your doctor.
Before using Babyhaler.
Clean the Babyhaler before use (see section "How to clean Babyhaler").
Checking the valves.
Before using the Babyhaler, check that the two blue valves are working correctly. Hold Babyhaler by orienting the face mask towards her. Press the face mask over your mouth. You should see at least part of both blue valves.
Inspire and exhale very carefully through the face mask. On exhalation, the external valve at the top of the Babyhaler should move slightly. (If this does not happen, see paragraph "Valve maintenance").
How to use Babyhaler.
Preparation of the inhaler.
- Remove the cap from the mouthpiece and shake the inhaler.
- Gently press the inhaler into the inhaler slot. The mouthpiece of the inhaler should point towards the Babyhaler.
How to give the medicine to the child.
- Your doctor will have told you the number of doses to give to your child. You must dispense one dose at a time. Keep your baby and make sure he stays calm.
- Hold the Babyhaler horizontally. With your thumb, press the inhaler once as quickly as possible to deliver a dose of medicine into the Babyhaler.
- Place the face mask gently but firmly on your baby's nose and mouth. (Hold the Babyhaler at a full angle to make the position comfortable for you and the baby). Hold the Babyhaler in this position until your baby has taken 5 to 10 breaths (approximately 15 seconds). To count your baby's breathing movements, you can observe the movement of the valves with each breath. Then remove the face mask from your baby's face.
- If your doctor has prescribed two or more doses, repeat the previous steps.
- Remove the inhaler from the Babyhaler and place the Babyhaler in the protective case. Put the mouthpiece cap back on the inhaler. If you find it difficult to use the Babyhaler when your baby is awake, try using it while they sleep. In this case, remember that it is important to keep the Babyhaler in a horizontal position while pressing the inhaler to deliver a dose of medicine.
After you start using Babyhaler.
How to clean the Babyhaler.
It is important to clean the Babyhaler regularly, at least once a week. To do this, disassemble the Babyhaler, clean the individual parts and re-assemble them.
Disassembly of the Babyhaler.
Check that the inhaler is not in the Babyhaler. Gently remove the soft face mask.
Remove the next section by pressing with your thumb and forefinger on both indentations and gently pulling apart the plastic parts.
To separate the two remaining parts, press on the two hollows, and gently separate the components.
