DIKESIL® is a novelty from IBSA Farmaceutici Italia containing vitamin D3 (cholecalciferol) and vitamin K2 (menaquinone), in a new combination designed to promote bone health through a positive synergistic action useful for maintaining calcium homeostasis and mineralization of bone. The innovative Nanoemulsion Delivery System technology of the sublingual oral spray formulation allows a better solubility and bioavailability of the fat-soluble vitamins K2 and D3, favoring the increase of the contact surface between the lingual and oral mucosa and the delivered solution.

VITAMIN D contributes to the normal absorption and utilization of phosphorus and calcium, helping to maintain normal blood levels of this mineral. There are pathological conditions such as hypovitaminosis D, very common in old age, which represent an important risk factor for the development of osteopenia and therefore of osteoporosis and which therefore involve an increased risk of fractures.

VITAMIN K acts as a cofactor of some bone and cartilage proteins, including osteocalcin, one of the most important regulators of bone mineralization. Dikesil also contains silicon dioxide, a stabilizing agent. Recently, some researchers are highlighting the biological importance of silicon in ossification since this mineral seems to play an active role in the formation and remineralization of bones, as well as to perform important functions at the level of collagen synthesis, health of the skin and skin appendages and the immune system.

Although, due to the lack of fundamental data, the nutritional requirements of silicon have not been specified, some epidemiological studies have nevertheless reported that a higher dietary intake of this element is associated with a higher mineral density of the bone.
