Ichthopaste Compressive Bandage Zinc Oxide 7,5x600cm
All Smith and Nephew pastes are made from lightweight open weave cotton impregnated with medicated paste.
ICHTHOPASTE are disposable anaelastic bandages made of an open weave fabric in 100% cotton impregnated with a zinc oxide paste BP, complying with the standards of the British Pharmacopoeia. ICHTHOPASTE contains 6.32% zinc oxide BP and 2% ichthyol BP.
Bandaging with ICHTHOPASTE is a local treatment that provides an ideal moist environment for the healing of venous leg ulcers. Furthermore, it is useful in reducing irritative manifestations, decongests and protects the periwound skin.

Benefits
Provide a moist environment for a long time1-3: ICHTHOPASTE bandages do not dry out during use. They keep the environment moist which promotes ulcer healing for the duration of the application (up to seven days).
Simple and atraumatic dressing changes: 2 Thanks to their softness and ability to remain moist, ICHTHOPASTE bandages are easy to apply and remove for healthcare professionals and do not cause pain to the patient.
Designed for ulcers with sensitive periwound skin: 3 ICHTHOPASTE are suitable for use on sensitive periwound skin and can be used on both children and the elderly.
They relieve irritation and soften the skin: 3-4 also suitable for the management of eczema or chronic dermatitis, in cases where occlusion is indicated.
Formula with ichthyol: the ichthyol BP 2% contained in ICHTHOPASTE favors the decongestion of the skin.
Indications
Bandaging with ICHTHOPASTE is indicated as an adjunct in the treatment of venous ulcers of the lower limbs. In the presence of venous insufficiency, the paste bandage should be used under a gradual compression bandage. The bandage with ICHTHOPASTE is also suitable in the management of eczema or chronic dermatitis, in cases where occlusion is indicated.
Contraindications / Precautions for use
Do not use in confirmed cases of sensitivity or allergy to any of the components.
Application
Once removed from the sealed bag and wrapper, the product is ready for use. The bandage can be applied in two ways:
1. Starting at the base of the toes, loosely wrap the bandage around the foot, heel and leg in a spiral, down to below the knee. Once applied, adhere and shape the bandage around the leg.
2. Starting at the base of the toes, loosely wrap the bandage around the foot and heel and then, as you work from the ankle, fold the bandage back onto itself on the front of the leg with each turn. Repeat for the entire leg to below the knee. A compression bandage can then be applied.
Once the ICHTHOPASTE bandage is applied, cover the leg with a bandage or dressing to avoid soiling the clothing. Change the bandage when required, it can stay in place for up to seven days.
