Inositol , also known as vitamin B7, is a very common compound in animal organisms where it forms various phospholipids, and in plant organisms, where it is found in the form of phytic acid.

Inositol plays an important role in the metabolism of lipids and cholesterol : it inhibits the accumulation of fat in the liver and participates in the construction of cell membranes and plasma lipoproteins.
