BETA YEAST GLUCAN with Vitamin C and Zinc contains Beta 1,3-1,6 D Glucan: it is an immunostimulant obtained from the cell wall of Brewer's Yeast; activates white blood cells such as Macrophages, Granulocytes and Monocytes, which are responsible for the defense against infections and supports the reconstruction of damaged tissues in the body by enhancing the regenerative process. Beta ~ 1,3D-glucan lowers cholesterol levels. Researchers from the University of Massachusetts, USA, studied the effect of yeast-derived beta ~ 1,3D-glucan on serolipid levels in obese and hypercholesterolemic men and concluded that "yeast-derived beta-glucan fiber lowered total cholesterol concentrations significantly and was well tolerated ". Clinical tests on the relationship between beta-glucan derived from oats and cholesterol were conducted by researchers from the University of Goteborg. in Sweden, who found that "beta-glucan induces an increase in acid bile excretion, which most likely explains the effect of oat fiber in lowering serolipids". (34)

Researchers at the University of Ottawa, Canada went further and designed a randomized clinical trial to determine whether it was the beta ~ 1,3D-glucan in oat bran that was responsible for the bran induced cholesterol itself. The results of the clinical trials were quite clear, namely that "beta-glucan, the main component of soluble fiber in oats, significantly reduced LDL and total cholesterol levels in hypercholesterolemic adults without changing HDL cholesterol". This means that beta-1,3D-glucan lowers "bad" cholesterol levels without doing the same with "good" cholesterol. Blood lipid levels are critically important for diabetics, so Swiss researchers have examined the effects of beta ~ 1,3D-glucan on patients with this disease; they concluded that "people with diabetes may benefit from diets rich in beta-glucan.
