SOLUTION

SILIPHOS : natural ingredient extracted from Milk Thistle, rich in flavonolignans (silybin, silidianin, isosilybin and silicristin). Silybin is the major component and it is to it that the main functional characteristics of this ingredient are due. Silymarin and silybilin exert antioxidant activity in vitro by reacting with oxygen free radicals at the level of platelets, fibroblasts, and hepatic mitochondria.

Recent studies have highlighted the ability of SILIPHOS to mimic the activity of retinoic acid on keratinocides, without the irritating side effects of the latter.

Like retinoic acid, SILIPHOS promotes the replacement of superficial dead cells (peeling) and at the same time stimulates cell turnover by renewing the elasticity and firmness of the skin. It also promotes the attenuation of spots by effectively intervening on the distribution of the pigment in the keratinocytes.

Previous studies had shown that the strong antioxidant properties of SILIPHOS increased the minimum erythemic dose (MED) by 24% in 18 healthy volunteers after 7 days of topical application. New evidence studies have highlighted the properties of SILIPHOS in providing a similar activity to retinoic acid, but devoid of any potential irritation that retinoic acid can cause.

• It reduces the expression of keratinocyte terminal differentiation markers, thus providing a visible anti-aging effect.
• It reduces the expression of proinflammatory cytokines, acting directly on Nf-KB (nuclear transcription factor), being devoid of any potential for irritation.
• It stimulates the protein expression of the basement membrane, such as lamin-5 and integrin ß4, involved in the organization of the extracellular matrix, thus improving the compactness of the tissue.
• In a 3D skin model, SILIPHOS stimulates the basement membrane and the dermis, effectively controlling skin aging.
