What is Korean Red Ginseng for?
Medium Quality Korean Red Ginseng Soft Extract. This Ginseng is considered among the best for quality and effectiveness due to the high content of active ingredients. Excellent tonic and adaptogen, indicated to combat physical and intellectual fatigue as well as to help the defenses of our body and increase resistance to fatigue and physical efforts.
Red Ginseng, unlike white ginseng, is obtained from the plant of the sixth year of life. In fact, it has been shown that the Ginseng plant produces the maximum content of active ingredients in the sixth year of life.
Active principles of Ginseng
The main components of the Ginseng root are represented by ginsenosides, a series of triterpene saponins derived from the tetracyclic structure of dammaran.
The aglycones of ginsenosides are represented by protopanaxadiol and protopanaxatriol: from the first the ginsenosides Ra, Rb1, Rb2, Rb3, Rc and Rd, from the second the ginsenosides Re, Rf, Rg1, Rg2 and Rh1 derive. The composition of each species of Ginseng (Panax, Quinquefolium, Notoginseg, Japonicus, Trifolius) is typical and can help to identify the starting drug: eg, in Panax ginseng (Chinese or Korean Ginseng, undoubtedly the most used species) are present mainly the ginsenosides Rb1, Rb2, Rc, Re, Rg1, while in the American Ginseng (Quinquefolium) the ginsenosides Rb1 and Re prevail. To these compounds is added the ginsenoside Ro, a triglycoside of oleonolic acid, present mainly in the root. Among the other compounds present there are a series of complex polysaccharides; the panaxans AE and QU; panaxinol; polypeptides; vitamins of group B; mineral salts and trace elements; traces of essential oil.
When using Korean Red Ginseng
Ginseng has been used for centuries by Chinese folk medicine as a tonic, stimulant and invigorating and to improve the general sense of physical and psychological well-being (Wilkie and Cordess, 1994). The pharmacological action of Ginseng is complex, but data on animals and humans show that the plant increases physical and mental efficiency and improves the adaptability of the organism, both human and animal, placed in unfavorable conditions. It is used by Western medicine for its "adaptogenic" abilities: as a tonic, energetic and stimulant of cognitive and mnemonic functions, useful in case of intense mental and / or physical activity and in states of asthenia and psychophysical exhaustion.
Ginseng is also used by athletes as an ergogenic in sports performance.
