The product derives from Hypericum perforatum L. (fam. Hyperiaceae), a plant that grows in clearings, in dry meadows and produces yellow flowers grouped in inflorescences from June to August.
The product, obtained by maceration in the sun from the fresh flowering tops of St. John's wort in sweet almond oil, red in color and with a characteristic odor, is known for its soothing action and is also used for massages.
