Calcarea carbonica is obtained from the trituration with lactose of the calcium carbonate extracted from the layer below the mother-of-pearl of the shell of Casostrea angulata, and subsequent dilutions / dynamizations in a hydroalcoholic solution.
Calcium Carbonate (CaCO3) is the calcium salt of carbonic acid which appears as a white solid soluble in waters containing dissolved carbon dioxide (CO2). It is the most abundant calcium mineral in nature, an integral part of living matter. Calcarea carbonica ostearum also contains magnesium carbonate, silica, manganese salts, iron, aluminum, strontium and some essential amino acids which explain its extensive general action on metabolism, bone tissue and lymphatic tissue. Its keynote is the deterioration of nutrition.
Main indications
It is a constitutional remedy pioneered by Hahnemann, in use for two centuries. It has psoric reactive modality for hereditary tendencies, the periodicity and the alternation between manifestations: cutaneous (eczema, suppurative tendency adenitis), mucous membranes (nasopharyngitis, otitis, bronchitis), digestive (intolerance to milk, constipation and diarrhea) and reactive modality Sicotic for the tendency to cutaneous or mucous proliferation, osteoarthritis that worsens with humidity and at the beginning of movement.
Psychological characteristics of the patient
Those who are most sensitive to the drug are short-lived.
Infants with large head, with long open fontanelles and large belly. Slow to learn and to walk. They have profuse sweats in the head, digestive acidity, eczema, delayed teething, a tendency to spasms, rickets, night terrors.
Plethoric and lymphatic boys, with square teeth, joint stiffness and muscular hypotonia, bulimia, amenorrhea, gastroenteritis. Persistent adenopathies in the neck, coxalgia, oxyuriasis, right migraine.
Adults who tend to obesity, rickets, polyps, pyorrhea, warts, biliary or urinary lithiasis, dysmetabolism (gout, hypertension, sclerosis of the vessels), arthrosis, eczema and migraines.
The typical patient is apprehensive, anxious, shy, slow, methodical, and stubborn. He has an aversion to physical and mental effort, he is forgetful. Fearful, he fears contagious diseases, bad luck. It tends to depression.
Symptoms and methods of reaction
Aggravates: with cold especially if wet, with intellectual and physical effort, with milk and starchy foods, with full moon (worms).
It improves: in hot and dry weather, with continuous movement.
Laterality: right.
Dosage
In acute forms, the daily repetition of three granules every one or two days for a few months and then a weekly dose thereafter is recommended. In renal colic it acts on spasm and therefore on pain at a dose of 5 granules of 30 CH, every half hour. For maintenance therapy prescribe a dose tube every 15-30 days.
